Any builds to beat the bear club for men?
I don't have any factions or nightfall secondary professions available.
I have tried every build out there and the only time I got him to 0 (it took a "critted" sniper ally shot) and i didnt get the club equipped and by the time I got it in he was at 25% and rising and I was in negative mana pool and couldn't attack anyway.
Pretty frigging aggravating that you have to totally reskill yourslelf, and to get the one thing that people seem to have any success with (ritual spirits) I will have to play 10-15 hours of factions (or buy it for those that havent) just to finish off an EXPANSION quest. No way you should have to buy all the other seperate parts of the game to finish a quest that is in the expansion. But I have tried every single build I have seen and some of my own and other than a lucky "critted" sniper ally shot I haven't gotten him below 25%
Simpley cant interupt him enough or equip enough interupts to stop the dolyack sig and seeminly endeless troll ungeants, at least not when you have to switch weapons and do damage with a club in a split second.
been on this stupid quest for 12-14 hours and reskilled every single class in the game and still not one that was adequate.
Please dont post the spirit one I am not goign to go do another whole game just to get the SECONDARY skills to do something that should be doable. because supposedly you don't even have to own any of those other parts to do the expansion.
Also don't come in here with stupid mesmer innuendos because mesmers have only one interupt for a skill and that has way too long a cool down to be effective. Also don't post bane signet since the interupt only happens against an attack. Hel I even tried you walk like a dwarf, and that only knocked him down every other time, so that one doesn't even work, and basically that is the only other interupt a monk can equip. But basicaly you need 3 from what I have seen. I have maxed out degens on every sub class going and they aren't nearly effective enough even with a 52 mana pool (which is huge for a monk) because he always gets at least 1 troll ungeant off which basically negates everything you just wasted your wholemana pool on.

...Monk.
Rangers have a lot of interrupts even with just prophecies and EotN, but I really don't know how to get it done without using factions skills. Not all parts of EotN are doable with just prophecies.

What?
The bear has no spells so 3 of the 5 things you suggested won't work. And if you're using degeneration, Ignorance will work against your favor, seeing as it will slow him by 75%.
Diversion could be a good one if it hits Troll Unguent, Signet of Midnight will prevent him from hitting you and charging Defy Pain, Empathy is an okay one for some damage.
I used mainly Illusion Magic hexes and some interrupts when I did it on my mesmer.

EotN is not just a Prophecies expanasion, it's an expansion for all the games, and so I'm surprised their are not more side quests that are dependent, or at least much easier, with a mix of all 3 chapers' skills.
Sure I'd be miffed if the primary story arch was not do-able, or the dungeons, but I can understand it with the occasional little quest.
As for defeating the bear...I'd be looking for builds that used its strenth against it; Empathy, Ignorance, Cry of Frustration, Diversion, Clumsiness;
Of course I can't comment on its effectivenness, since I wasn't limitted in my options when I fought the bear

Yea its true it is a side quest, and the primary story was pretty easy, but I still find it pretty crazy how hard those Norn side quests to get their skills are. The sllalom quest was nearly impossible until I id the pigs before I did everything else. While the other factions were relatively easy mode to complete. Since the bear is needed to get to 2 or 3 more skills they have it is soemthing that definately needs to be done.
I do own the factions game (don't have nightfall yet) so maybe I will break down and level up my ritualist and then do the bear with the spirits, which seems to be the only one most people have had any sort of success with.
From what I have readmost people that did this guy did him before he bacame nearly impossible, and that is why there aren't any good strats to kill him other than the spirit spamming. because right now he spams troll ungeant all day long and even full on mesmer regens can't keep him down, and that is also with some bleeds. not sure if they stack or not, but it really doesn't matter because if you miss something he is at 100% in about 5 seconds. You have to be almost perfect just to hold him below 50%. With just a monk primary and divine spirit (useless against him) the secondary skill lines are not nearlt enough.

Obviously some of the posters don't read. No. Spirit. Spam...
I suggest you go a mesmer secondary, use Sympathetic Visage(no adrenaline gain+lose energy), empathy, then use Guardian on yourself(prophecies does have that skill right??). Interrupt using Cry of Frustration. You should be good then...make sure to switch to uberleet hammer to finish him.
Yes this is a secondary quest from an expansion, but there's no use QQing about how you spent 12-14 hours on a single quest...it is a secondary, after all.

I just dont see how ANY quest can take 12-14 hours. You are obviosly doing something wrong here imo. Go /R and dshot his Troll Ungent then just kill him.

If you do buy Factions/nightfall (all you need is to unlock a skill then buy a tome) Unlock with Baltz faction. [Leech signet] [cry of pain] [cry of frustration][web of disruption] some skills that can inturupt anything. granted you need multiple campaigns but you do not have to play thru to get the skills anymore.
